Traditionally urbanisation has meant the loss of green spaces in cities, which has a negative impact on water, air, soil, biodiversity, human health and the climate. In attempts to create more sustainable, regenerative and resilient cities; green infrastructure and nature-based solutions (NBS) can play an important role, bringing green elements into everyday urban living. The European Commission defines NBS as ‘solutions that are inspired and supported by nature, which are cost-effective, simultaneously provide environmental, social and economic benefits and help build resilience’.[1]
