Simon Deurloo, was born and raised in Amsterdam. He studied Mechanical Engineering in Delft but has been working in IT for more than 20 years. He has been developing new branches for existing companies and helped to setup new companies. He has been political active for more than 25 years. He has been a council man in Amsterdam. He is now a memeber of the Water Board Amstel, Gooi en Vecht.

In 2015 he established Popdat out of concern for the current state of democracy around the world. Popdat is a social platform that helps people to work together. Popdat can be customized to the wishes of the organisations involved and is used by governments, commercial and non-profit organisations throughout the world. Popdat is used by the Global Parliament of Mayors (GPM), and organisation which unites mayors of big cities around the world. Simon advises the Secretariat and Advisory Board of the GPM.
