This database was created with the idea of enabling networks and other makers and thinkers to share and access their knowledge on networks. This database isn't created with the sole purpose of serving researchers, but to enable networks to share and access ideas, to become aware of other networks of similar interests and to open opportunities for collaboration and learning. We are asking you to participate in this knowledge co-production in order for us all to have access to a database for the sharing of information and knowledge and to enable connections and collaboration.
Below you will find an overview of translocal networks that have been added to the database thus far.

Introduction to the database

Why a database of translocal networks?

The purpose of this database of translocal networks in short is to inform, connect and to serve as a platform for knowledge-sharing about and between networks working on just sustaiability transitions. For the networks themselves, this database allows them to access and share information about like-minded organisations and actors that can serve as a basis for collaboration as well as a source of inspiration. This information shared in this database can enable initiatives to learn from others in order to improve their own processes of network formation. The database may also help in raising awareness about initiatives, which in turn can help them to grow and increase their impact in the future.

In addition the objective of the database is to serve as a source for research on and knowledge production about the role of networks in and for just sustainability transitions (e.g., their various ways of operating to enact change, the differing forms of knowledge governance, and their differing levels of intent in contributing to (just sustainable) transitions).

Call to co-creation

This database of translocal networks will serve its purpose of informing, connecting as well as being a source for learning and knowledge production to the extent that it features a broad range of networks with a necessary depth of information. This is why we invite you, the makers and thinkers around just sustainability transitions across places and spaces, to take part in co-producing and member-checking the knowledge in this database about a diversity of translocal networks. This database is created and owned by us, the users of this database, and therefore, the more input we put into it the more useful and insightful this database will be. We welcome you to join us in adding your contributions of translocal networks to this database in order for us to collectively reap the benefits of this platform for knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

This database has been initiated by the Just Sustainability Transitions in Cities research network of Erasmus University Rotterdam in Autumn 2022. Thus, we are still in the process of creating entries for this database and the work has only begun. In addition to this database of translocal networks, our team is working on a more comprehensive database on Google Sheets, which will serve to provide more information of networks for research purposes.

Below you will find an overview of translocal networks that have been added to the database thus far.
